Long before he was president, James Anderson was Secretary of Agriculture and a devoted husband; a Navy Officer; a college football player; a farm boy growing up in the eastern hills of Nebraska.

 

However, before any of those things, he was always the great-great-grandson of Gray Eagle, the Sioux Indian Chief who in the late 1800s saved his tribe from extinction at the hands of settlers and soldiers on the plains of Nebraska and Wyoming Territory.

 

Now, his wife of forty years is dead, murdered by Al Qaeda terrorists in an nuclear blast that has destroyed most of Washington, DC. The top government leadership is gone, and Secretary Anderson is thrust unprepared into the presidency of The United States. Everything depends on how he manages to blend his own personal history, grief, fears, and intended legacy with that of America, all while facing a continuing terrorist attack that threatens to bring the country’s history to a terrifying end.
